The Rajya Sabha has passed the Aircraft (Amendment) Bill, 2020.

- The Bill has already been passed by the Lok Sabha.
- It will replace the Aircraft Act, 1934.
- It has provisions to convert the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security and the Aircraft Accidents Investigation Bureau into statutory bodies.
- Each of these bodies will be headed by a Director-General who will be appointed by the centre.
Lok Sabha passed the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020.
Important Points to Remember:
- The Bill will replace the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Ordinance which was promulgated on 5th June this year.
- The Bill has provisions to amend the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 and empowers the central government in terms of production, supply, distribution, trade, and commerce of certain commodities.
Central Government banned the export of all varieties of onions with immediate effect. The move is aimed at increasing availability and checking the price of the commodity in the domestic market.
State
Horticulture Department has launched the Flagship programme “Backyard Horticulture” under CAPEX scheme at Jaswan, Marh, Jammu.

- At least three fruit plants costing Rs. 200 will be distributed among the farmers at a 90% subsidy covering 600 households in Zone Marh.
- The main aim of the programme is to promote organic fruit production for home consumption and to fulfil the individual requirement.
